Arriving…

…on foot – 4 miles from Gargrave, 2 miles from Malham.  Leave the Pennine Way at Airton Bridge, walk towards the village, we are the first building on the left

…by bicycle – The Way of the Roses passes our door

…by train – the most convenient stations are Gargrave (5 miles)  and Skipton (9 miles).  Taxis cost approximately £17-£18 from Skipton.  Airton is on bus routes 210 and 211  service from Skipton via Gargrave to Malham

…by road – leave the A65 at Gargrave and follow signs to Malham and Airton.  See tips on parking below and ask the Friend in Residence if in doubt.

On arrival knock on the white door in the porch at the front of the building.

Parking tips

All of the roads in Airton are frequently trafficked throughout the week including by large agricultural vehicles.  The weekends can be especially busy with tourist traffic.  We ask visitors and guests to be mindful of the need for access by emergency vehicles and routine traffic when choosing where to park.

We suggest parking on the Hellifield Road above and below the junction with the Gargrave to Malham road.  Please note that this road is at its narrowest opposite the tree on the green (the green blob on the plan below!) so we strongly discourage parking at that point.  There is also a small amount of space at the bridge on the road to Calton and one space outside the Meeting House.  Please avoid occupying the cobbles immediately outside the houses opposite the Meeting House as these are privately owned.  Finally, please also avoid parking on verges or the village green itself.
